How to Create a Magical Gingerbread Christmas Village
With the holiday season fast approaching, it’s time to start planning your festive decorations!
In this blog post, we're sharing a creative way to bring holiday cheer into your home – by crafting your very own Gingerbread Christmas Village using molds, eco powder, and festive details.
Whether you want to create a charming centerpiece for your mantel, make unique gifts, or simply craft with loved ones, this project is perfect for you!
Materials You’ll Need:
- Gingerbread House Mold Set – The mold set for creating your village.
- A Makers' Studio Eco Powder – A durable crafting material for making your gingerbread houses.
- Plaster or Clay (Optional) – For a non-edible, long-lasting village.
- ChalkArt Paints – For decorating your gingerbread houses.
- Paint Brushes and Tools – To apply details and color to your houses.
- Decorative Elements – Faux snow, powdered sugar, shredded coconut, candles, and greenery.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Mix the Eco Powder
Start by mixing your A Makers' Studio Eco Powder according to the instructions. Use a ratio of 2 parts Eco Powder to 1 part water. Stir the mixture well until smooth and lump-free. This mixture will create a sturdy, stone-like material perfect for your village houses.
Step 2: Pour Into the Molds
Next, carefully pour the Eco Powder mixture into your Gingerbread House Mold Set. Make sure the molds are set on a flat surface to prevent uneven filling. Once the molds are filled, leave them to set for about 1–1.5 hours, allowing the mixture to fully harden.
Step 3: Demold the Houses
After the Eco Powder has hardened, gently press the back of the mold to release the houses. You'll have beautifully detailed mini houses that are ready for decorating!
Step 4: Customize Your Gingerbread Houses
This is where the fun begins! Using ChalkArt Paints or Metallic Inks, you can decorate your gingerbread houses. If you prefer a more rustic or traditional look, you can leave them white or give them a light wash with watered-down inks for a subtle color. Adding silver or gold accents can also bring a festive, elegant touch to your village.
Step 5: Create Gingerbread Candles
For a unique twist, turn your gingerbread houses into candles! After creating the house using Eco Powder, make a small hole at the top of the house using a skewer to insert a candle wick. Melt organic beeswax and pour it into the mold. Let it harden for an hour and a half, then remove the candle from the mold. The detailed house-shaped candles will make the perfect centerpiece or gift!
Step 6: Bake Your Edible Gingerbread Cakes
If you're hosting a holiday gathering, impress your guests by using the molds to bake individual gingerbread cakes! Prepare a cake mix (we recommend devil's food cake for its rich color) and pour it into the mold. Bake for about 35 minutes, then cool completely before demolding. Once the cakes are set, sprinkle them with powdered sugar or shredded coconut for a snow-covered look. These mini cakes are sure to be a hit at any holiday event!
